Throughout my fitness transformation, especially during May 2017, my days were quite difficult since I made a paradigm shift in my daily routine. Although, I became accustomed to getting up at 4 am, preparing my whole day diet & reaching gym at 5 am, my entire day was full of struggle with long working hours in office & lengthy drive during peak traffic. There was some crazy drive within me which kept my energy level intact & prompted me to have 45 minutes jog every day even after a long tiring day in the office.
Besides, the frightening experience of chronic lifestyle disease faced by my uncle, who was miraculously saved from clutches of death had given be goosebumps. I did not want to leave any stone unturned to protect myself from lifestyle disease. I then desired to be a “fitness freak” & wanted to set up an example for my family, friends & children by following a strict health discipline. This unstoppable attitude made me solid as a “rock”. Also my gym friends’ circle & other acquaintances in my network were curious to know what motivated me to undergo such fitness transformation.
At this stage of my health reform, I developed a strict control on my diet & it had been more than 9 months since I ate out. Eating healthy & in right proportions made my health parameters normal & I was actually feeling healthy & lively. By now, I was focused on building supreme strength & looking muscular in span of 9 to 12 months. With this objective in mind, I told my fitness coach Shadab to increase the toughness level of functional & strength focused exercises.
It was first Saturday of May’17 & summers were at its peak. I got a call from Shadab;
Shadab: Sushant sir, we have achieved desired level of stamina & you look in good touch now. It’s time to start focusing on building endurance level. We shall start advanced strength training today. Please be at terrace @ 10 am.
Me: Sure thing!
So 10 am, we started with paddling rope & spider walk. However on completing 5 reps of first set of both exercises, I felt drained & exhausted. Perhaps it was the first time I was doing workout which required testing my strength levels. However, Shadab’s motivation to constantly push me & my “never give up attitude” helped me do 2 sets of 8 reps each. This made me realize that I need to alter my diet & include more of protein & carb intake to bring positive changes in my endurance level.
Over next 60 days, I followed a strict high protein diet & underwent rigorous military training covering chin-ups, half crunches, bicycle crunches, hammer strength, sumo squats, hand plank walk ups & cross fit tyre technique. Somewhere in mid of Jun’17, Shadab asked me to undergo a plank competition with his other fellow clients. I was the oldest one among his client, however at end of the competition, i was able to hold plank for 2 minutes, 5 seconds with 15 kg weight. At this juncture of my fitness transformation, even though I was oldest among the lots, I was acknowledged for the supremacy of my strength level. This really gave me a real boost.
With this in mind, I continued to explore the several regimes of fitness and enhanced my lifestyle. Though, I’d like to share more of my experiences but due to my time bound limitations, I’d share more about my fitness transformation journey from slim to muscular through my next post.
So, stay tuned for my next post and do let me know what you think or share your experience/struggles with me.
