Why you should not train yourself?

So you have been training for a handful of years to achieve that iron body. You know how to schedule your workout, how many sets, repetitions, intensity of increase of weights & right kind of nutritious diet. However during this journey did you ever train yourself or was coached/trained by an awesome trainer?

In other words, did you ever structure fitness plan for yourself? Well most of us at one point in time must have been trained by some expert. Why is it so that if you are curating a fitness plan for yourself, there is higher chances that you are doomed  not to successfully achieve your fitness goals? So why does this happens? As a fitness aspirant & influencer, I’d like to share my insights on the above & how fitness coaching is evolving in present day context:

1.) Objectivity: Fitness Books written by renowned authors are smart & useful. They provide best theoretical knowledge but are far away from practical expertise since each human body type is different & would react differently to different workout & diet schedules. In the present digital era, fitness aspirants are also falling prey to lot of fitness related content available on youtube Videos. This DIY does not works well since you fall prey to personal bias & would start asking yourself questions such as “ Did I performed the last set properly”, “ Were my opening & closing negative(eccentric) movements less than 30 seconds? “ Am I on the right track”.

Objectivity goes out the window with you either making paradigm shift in plan or deciding to start all over again. As such your confidence takes a massive hit.  Hiring trainer carry lot of inherent benefits. Trainers, having dealt with a large number of clients with varied body types & fitness goals can evaluate the gaps. They can easily cast away your feelings & make a structural action plan to make things working. It may be changing exercises, altering diets or exchanging few words to keep them motivated & aligned with their fitness goals.

2.)Planning your own diet? Are you serious?– Planning your diet during bulking phase may not be that bad idea but what about fat loss? You set your macros, curate your meal schedule & follow that judiciously. Things go well for one or two weeks then either your suffer from weight plateau ( weight loss becomes stagnant or decreases at a diminishing rate). You weigh on scale & observe the dial reads exactly as it did last week. You may re-look at your body measurements & think that your waist line has increased. You are actually freaking out. However having a trainer will help you restructure your diet, may be lower your carbs or fat content or increase your cardio to lower your net calories. You might be doing 7 reps instead of 8 for your quads & start thinking that you are losing that muscle gains you built over the last few months. You might drop your diet early in order to gain that muscle back. However having a trainer will help you realize it’s just that bad day. You are doing fine & on target.
