Are you looking to change gears in your career? Follow these signs

Do you feel enthusiastic at the prospect of going to work every morning? Or feel dreaded with the thought of going to the office. In majority of the cases latter take precedence. It is not ok to feel dreaded while going to work. If prons of role outweigh its cons, then the job is a decent fit for the time being. However , it is important to evaluate these cons since these pitfalls may five you a sign that it is time to take that next plunge in your career.   1. You feel perturbed: Not everyone expects the all days to be exciting from Monday through Friday. However, these are early warnings that something is not right & that you need to evaluate how worthwhile it is to continue in your current role :
    1. You get a headache on Sunday evenings.
    2. You find yourself watching the clock while at work.
    3. Your energy is drained to the point that you struggle to get out of bed.
  1. You lack confidence: Many job seekers go through motions every day but feel lack of confidence & motivation. A perfect fit role should boost jobseekers self esteem. The following are worth considering:
    1. Do you feel lack of confidence in decision making
    2. Were you full of ideas & innovation earlier which no longer exists now.
    3. See little scope of growth or career progression.
  1. Increasing social media & recreational activities during the day: Are your internet habits telling you something? Do you spend a lot of time on google searches, browsing Facebook, Instagram, book marking companies of interest or searching resume specialists &/or jobs.

Is money the driving force behind doing that ill fated job: For a lot of executives, a high paying job may give you that external satisfaction & comfortable lifestyle that subdues the unhappiness associated with dreaded & toxic roles. Do you wish to treat yourself to continue in a dreaded job? If this is the case, self-reflection is the need of the hour.
  1.  The career is not fit with your life right now: Your career/job requires your full attention & expect you to work at even odd hours which does not suit your current lifestyle since you have to now take care of your kids as well. In other words, you need a balance between your professional & personal life & your current roles does not provide that you leverage.
  1. Structural organisation changes: In the past, the job has worked well for you. However now your organisation underwent a major restructuring exercise & ownership changed hands. As a result, the organisation has undergone a major cultural change which now does not fit in your scheme of things. Maybe the rules have changed or ethical/technical requirements have undergone a shift which is not comfortable for you. Whatever may be the reason, you do not feel that you belong to that herd & it is in your best interest to shift careers.

You may like your boss, colleague or customers but you miss the spark in the job which you felt earlier. You  need to increase your skills and be in a work which is self fulfilling for you. It would also be a great time to consult a resume specialist.
