Strength training: Is it really necessary?

There was a time when folks indulged in a lot of physical movement & strength training was not considered necessary & an important part of the workout schedule. Before we get into more detail about strength training let us figure out what is strength training!

It is training that uses resistance to challenge muscles & create muscle tension to gain strength & endurance. Strength training is generally done using weights in gyms/health clubs. However concept of calisthenics is picking up with fitness folks using body weights to train muscles.
