How to attract recruiters’ attention on LinkedIn?

With 660 million plus Professionals & Job Seekers on LinkedIn, LinkedIn is the most powerful tool for job hunting, networking & creating your professional brand. Given the fact that 70% of jobs are not advertised & are filled through networking & referrals, LinkedIn becomes all the more important.

If you are on LinkedIn to attract recruiters’ attention & scout for the next best career move, having a stagnant /up to date LinkedIn profile is not going to help. You will be in a better position to leverage LinkedIn when you are active.

Remaining active on LinkedIn means participating in discussions of your interest & expertise in various groups & sharing & commenting on industry related topics, trends & insights. Posting once or twice a week will keep your profile on the top of searches/connection feeds & would increase chances of being contacted by recruiter/hiring manager.

Given the advent of technology & its application, being active on LinkedIn has become much easier. The following paragraphs will discuss strategy to remain active on LinkedIn:

  1. External publications: Look for relevant & interesting articles in industry/business journals, websites & online magazines to share with your network on LinkedIn. To expand your reach, use hashtags. For sharing &/commenting, look out for the LinkedIn symbol at the top/bottom of the page.
  2. LinkedIn Influencers: Your network quality( not quantity) has a profound impact on the readers/those searching your profile. Search for authors & influencers with a wide range of topics on LinkedIn pulse(search under “ interests” on LinkedIn home page). Choose who you would like to follow & share articles of your interest in your network. You can also use hashtags to widen the reach of your posts.
  3. Join various groups: Join groups of your interest & start taking part in the discussions. Lots of articles are shared constantly in these groups. These articles are a great source of information. By commenting &/share your views on the articles, you can expand your reach & even let potential hiring managers know about your expertise & skill set. You can even subscribe to get weekly updates in your mailbox.
  4. Publish your blogs/articles: Share your thoughts/knowledge by writing & published blogs/articles on LinkedIn. This increases the chances of increasing your followers.
