1.) 3 W’s-Who, What, Why.
This is considered to be the most important aspect of your resume & spending credible time of these aspects will pay off. Who is your target company or industry? Are you seeking a career change or career progression? Once you have answered these questions, the next step would be to evaluate what would be expected from you in terms of hard skills, your leadership, team work & other soft skills. Once you got the Who & What right, the next step would be why employer would pick you over a number of other potential job seekers.

2.) Length

Some professionals find it easy to pencil down their achievements & potential benefits they have derived for their employer, other finds it tedious & cumbersome & think they have none. If you really find it difficult to pen down your achievements, give thought of what you do on a day to day basis & take a note of it. What problems you have sorted? What savings or financial benefits you created? Think of times when you went that extra mile to create value for your employer.

4.) Third Person Singular
To stand out among the crowd, you need to showcase your achievements in an objective & professional way. You should avoid using “ I” & “ my”.
