If you are trying to figure out the perfect content for executive resume that articulates your accomplishments, you  should go back to basics of gathering information & storytelling.

Writing a resume is nothing but penciling down your career story carved out from your professional accomplishments & facts. The details to be included in a resume should be based upon challenges faced during your professional journey & how you overcame them. More intriguing would be including brief success story that led to turnaround/ exceptional measurable benefits.

While writing bullet points, you should consider the following : Why, Who, What, Where, When & How clearly articulating what were specific objectives & who were involved, where & when was the action taken & what were the results/outcome.

You cannot plainly write increased market  share in your resume. Instead you should build a story around it how you did it, who were involved, what was involved, challenges you faced, where it happened, when it happened & ending up in measurable results/metrics.

You may answer the questions as,

What was involved?

Direction & guidance to the team of area managers on increasing weekly sales.

Where did it happen?

In a multinational car manufacturing organisation with $ 75 mn of annual sales

When it happened?

In 2018 as National Manager for SAARC nations

How did it end?

Increased market share by 3.5% in span of 10 months

Now take all these facts together & blend it to showcase a value enhancing statement in your resume

Led, directed & motivated team of 10 area managers to Increased SOM by 3.5% for SAARC nations in record 10 months time.

All of the above will answer the question “ WHY” you are best suited for a particular job.

Career storytelling is putting all the pieces together in the right way to showcase the value you have delivered & impact you have created.
