Looking for the next CXO opportunity? Leverage your LinkedIn Profile

LinkedIn with 50 million plus companies is the most sought after place for C-suite job seekers to tell their story & to portray their executive experience & accomplishments. Around 85% of recruiters are sourcing candidates from LinkedIn.

Even if you have a completed & comprehensive LinkedIn profile, recruiters may not approach you unless you have the right keywords mapped in your LinkedIn profile.

To make your LinkedIn profile a winning proposition for your next CXO level job search, you must speak the language of people who would be reading your profile, use their terminology & include those keywords in your profile.

Let us discuss how you can be on the top of search bars of recruiters scouting for people like you on LinkedIn.

  1. Identify your target position: What types of CXO positions are you interested in ? Are you looking for roles in big corporations or start-ups? Having a clarity & target roles in mind can help you reach out & expand the right network of corporations & recruiters.
  2. Populate your profile with the right Keywords: Search for open job roles to read through job description of ideal C-suite role &/or research how recruiters have described what they are looking for candidate in CXO roles you are looking for your next challenge. Shortlist keywords as you read through such roles which perfectly align with your profile perfectly. Populate your headline & summary statement with these identified keywords.
  3. Use a Thesaurus: It is perfectly fine to use relevant keywords matching your profile but do not overuse it or do not use it repeatedly. Instead, think of different creative ways to convey the same message.
  4. Place keywords strategically throughout your LinkedIn profile: Ideally keywords should be placed in almost every section of your LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn algorithm prioritizes content in various sections differently & places more importance to sections such as Headline, Summary Statement, Job Titles & Skills
  5. Avoid internal corporate language: Research & use standard & widely accepted terms in your LinkedIn profile & avoid including specific jargons. Prefer using the full name of your job title rather than short forms
