How to crack that second job interview?

You have made it through application process & cleared first face to face round of interview. Now it’s time for all important second interview. For many corporations, this is the final evaluation before the hiring decision is made. Job seekers should consider the following before appearing for the interview:

  1. Corporations are looking for a perfect fit

Now that your prospective employer has impression of you as a person & a fair grasp of your experience & expertise, they would like to dig deeper & figure out about specific skills & competencies that would be important for the requirement of the proposed position. The second/final interview would also enable corporations to evaluate if your profile would be fit culturally & aesthetically within their environment.

2. Consider first interview as a guiding factor

You should do a post mortem & revisit your first interview to analyse situations where your stumbled upon the facts or fabricated any information so that the same is not repeated in the final round. Also evaluate what specific your skill set experience or expertise corporation was interested in.

3. Be open & ask questions

The first round of interview may have not provided you with the opportunity to ask questions about the corporations. This final interview is a perfect platform for you to show your enthusiasm of securing role with the corporations. You may ask something like what is process of performance appraisal? Keep in mind not to ask something which can be easily found on their website.

4. Prepare for competency related questions

During the final interview, you will be asked to narrate a story. For instance, you may be asked to explain a situation where you demonstrate leadership capability or have managed a team conflict. By now you have a clear idea of what would be expected of you from the role. So a wise strategy would be going through your previous experience & try to build a story around the problem you faced, steps you took & the commercial benefit you derived for your previous organisation.
